Description and Attributes
Jack Sparrow's hair is wavy dark to medium brown color which features many dreadlocks, a ponytail, and two braids, one thin braid which hangs by his right temple and a large one in the back that is a mix of dreads and hair. As with alot of various bits and pieces of his costume, Captain Jack's head of hair probably had the biggest overhaul, increasing the amount of dreadlocks, a bit of a lighter color brown than seen in COTBP, and various tweaks in the positions of his various charms just to name a few Weblocal Hospedagem.
Do It Yourself / Techniques
There are a variety of options for the creating the wig, though few for purchasing. Ebay is a source for find a few premade Jack Wigs (Ms. Mazie, and SithEmpireWorld), many are not good. A few sellers are able to provide an adequate look by using wool dreads commonly seen on holloween style rasta hats, however if you are looking for more acuracy or just for a project then I'll explore some options for creating your own.
If you choose to create your own Wig, you need to find a wig base that you feel is suitable, you can find these local at hair care supply stores, various internet shops, costume shops, or ebay. You will probably want a fairly light color, around a color 6 in wig terms with highlights, or a color 4 dark brown for a more COTB look. There are many things to consider, price, quality, and material. The actual Wig was made from 100% human hair, but synthetics might provide more longevity and less care. You'll probably want a shoulder length wig, thats slightly wavy.
Once you've decided on a Wig you need to figure out what options you want to use for your dreads. You can use wool as others often use, or you could make them yourself. If you choose to make them yourself you can purchase bulk hair for braiding from most hair care stores or from various internet avenues. Once you purchase your hair, you can search the internet for various methods of creating dreadlocs, in the future hopefully we'll add a few tuturials to this site. There are three primary methods that i'll illustrate here, backcombing + twisting + heat seal (steaming/boiling/blowdrying) etc.., using a photomat glue and lightly spraying and palm rolling, or my personal favorite backcombing + palmrolling/tiprolling.
The quality and type of hair you use for the dreads greatly effects your end results. I highly recommend using an african textured hair, a hair thats very kinky, if you use synthetic hair I also suggest finding one that is sturdy, and won't tear easily, this greatly helps backcombing. If you intend to make real dreads similiar to Jack's, you'll want to mix various colors together as his are highly bleached by the sun, saltwater, and lord knows what else. I recommend colors 4, 6, 8, 27, and 30. I'll also suggest using a lock accelerator, this is a simple solution you can make yourself consisting of lemon juice, water, and sea salt.
Headscarf Weathering
There are various methods when it comes to achieving the perfect sea-worn look ranging from dyes, paints, or simply just letting nature do the job. If you want to go the natural way, hang it outside in the hot sun, or even simply wearing it while out and about. If you'd rather get more instant results, you can do as follows. A popular method to fade it, is to give it a bath in warm water with a small (tiny even) amount of bleach until you reach the look you want. While you should always be careful when using bleach, the headscarf material is rather "foolproof," in that if you bleach it more than you intended, it can be dyed, bleached, re-dyed etc. without problems, and can in fact improve the overall weathered look of the headscarf by dulling the pattern.

Headscarf
The eBay store Mango-Fever sells movie accurate headscarves at what seems to be the cheapest price on the web. There are variations of the pattern available from different websites, in which the colors of the flowers are either black, grey, or blue. Mango-Fever supplies the blue version. It seems that between CotBP, DMC, and AWE, there's potential that all variations were used, but hard to determine due to how faded and worn it appears Servidor Dedicado in the films.

Can anybody find the screencap from "The Lost Disc" of Johnny putting on the wig and bandanna? If so could someone please add it to this page? It gives a good example of what the wig should look like before the headscarf is in place.

I'll plug in links later, and I'll try to put together a briefer version of my wig analysis, as well as UM wig analysis. I'll also plug the youtube tutorials in.
